"STAND" (In the Light) for James is a bridge over troubled water, in troubled times and he adds, "When you get to the other side, know that God got you there, so turn around and help someone else". "My father, who was a deacon in the church and also, my Sunday School Teacher, taught me about faith. Although my life has been through ups and downs, I have never been discouraged, because of my faith in God". Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen (Herbrews 11:1).

James began this inspirational journey with his first CD, "It's Your Night", produced by Quincy Jones. He won a Grammy for "Yah-Mo Be There" (interpreted: GOD WILL BE THERE), for "Best Duo or Group". This song was the most played song of that year. Before Warner Bros. Records released this song, there was skepticism about changing the name and Quincy Jones was asked if he could convince James to change the name of the song. Ingram responded "No", and informed Warner Bros. that he believed in the Word of God and this was his testimony.

Like many of his peers, James' formative years were very much defined by the Church and the teachings of the Bible, of which many stories have left an indelible mark on his life.

James Ingram performed his first single "MERCY" from his new album, STAND (In The Light), on the TV One show, "The Gospel of Music", and Cathy Hughes (Founder, Chairperson of Radio One and TV One) was so moved that she asked if James had other inspirational songs that he had written. Through a lot of encouragement and perseverance, Hughes was able to convince James Ingram to release his first CD in 7yrs. Hughes has said: "God clearly used James Ingram's anointed vocal genius, once again, to sing HIS praises.

If you have loved the versatility and emotion of James Ingram's previous releases, you will be moved by his first single "MERCY" from his upcoming CD, "STAND" (In The Light), in stores, October 14, 2008.
