Imagination's Leee John teams with Brazilian artist for new single

PRESS RELEASE - March 20, 2023 (London, UK) This year celebrating a phenomenal  career-spanning 40 years of IMAGINATION Featuring LEEE JOHN,  Int renowned live recording Artist LEEE JOHN returns on top form once again with the forthcoming release  of the stunning long awaited  new song  “Solitude.”  A beautiful, haunting piece of music that capitulates a mesmerizing intoxicating Latin/Soul feel sound, delivering a  stunning  arrangement and collaborative vocal duet,  first recorded in 2020 in English & Portuguese with acclaimed Latin Grammy award winning Brazilian Artist Jorge Vercillo.

To quote LEEE JOHN “Solitude,” is the here and now, as the world emerges and starts to wake up reflecting all our thoughts from the global pandemic, are emotions, our lives, our families, nobody was  sure of what is happening next, I feel through the beauty of music & songs we can recreate positive images of colour, expression, love, pain and joy and with, “Solitude” there are true feelings of expression with the wonderful Jorge and myself bring this all to light.

I was first introduced to Jorge Vercillo’s music by a Brazilian DJ friend of mine, who had suggested working together as I was looking to collaborate with  other interesting  creative Artists/Musicians on a new pending concept world music album adding their input from all over the world. Jorge Vercillo is an incredibly talented  Artist, a brilliant, passionate lyricist,  his beauty is seen in his body of work, a true inspiration. When I first heard his music  I immediately was in awe. Funny enough, prior to working on “Solitude” we started writing a different song together which I still have to present to him very soon however,  which then  gravitated creatively  to “Solitude ” whichwas a song I wrote and felt it really suited Jorge’s wonderful style and sung  so beautifully in Portuguese, it  just sounds amazing!

The song “Solitude,” is unique… When I hear the various versions and mixes now, I really liked them all: the disco cut, the upbeat version, the radio edit, the acoustic version reminiscent of MPB, a style of which I am a representative in Brazil and around the world. The song was a very intimate and personal contemplation of the global pandemic situation, which was already clear in LEEE’s original lyrics, says Jorge Vercillo.   I just tried to avoid making it too literal, and to translate that sentiment into Portuguese and introduce some aspects related to my own context. That then added an additional layer to “Solitude”  of  a private solitude, which I translate as the “Mirror of Solitude”. This “Solitude”  is not only mirrored by how we were living during the pandemic but also in our own urban lifestyles,  and of course yes, we already knew and admired each other’s  musical work.”
