We've just learned that McKinley "Bug" Williams, longtime percussionist for Maze, has died of an apparent heart attack. The Philadelphia-born Williams was a life long friend of group lead Frankie Beverly and formed Maze with Beverly following the transition out of a group called the Butlers.

On the Maze website, Williams is quoted as follows: "I've never really played with anyone else. I always wanted the same basic things that Frank wanted for the band and my attitude was, 'let's take it to the max.'"

That he always did. He will be missed.
