It has been off the air for nearly a half century, but the Ed Sullivan Show continues to hold a special place in entertainment folklore. The variety show was “must watch” television in the 1950s and 60s, and hosted some of the most iconic performances of the period, including the U.S. debut of The Beatles.

Sullivan’s show was also a regular stopping ground for the great Motown acts of the 60s. The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops and The Jackson Five were repeat guests, and strutted their well-rehearsed craft in front of a nation on Sullivan.

The great news for music fans is that, beginning this week, many of the greatest performances from the show will become available in high resolution format on YouTube. Check out these fantastic ones below from Motown stars of the day, and enjoy!
