Ms. Brandes-Hargrove, who was Mr. Hargrove’s wife and is the Administrator of his Estate, said that “Kamala and I are excited about our new Company and look forward to keeping Roy’s music alive and sharing it with his present and future fans.” Among other things, the Company has just launched an official Hargrove website (www.royhargroveofficial.com) as well as Instagram (www.instagram.com/groveydean) and Twitter (@groveydean) pages. It also is reviewing Mr. Hargrove’s significant group of unreleased studio and live recordings with an eye toward a first album release later this year.

About Roy Hargrove: Roy Hargrove, a two-time Grammy winner who topped the 2019 DownBeat Readers’ Poll for his instrument, is widely acclaimed as one of the premier trumpet players of his generation. He was a musician of wide tastes with a special gift for composition and melody. While always keeping one foot firmly planted in jazz, Hargrove’s career was one of exciting genre-crossing exploration, including collaborations with Branford Marsalis, Christian McBride, Chucho Valdes, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Common and many others. He toured worldwide throughout his 30-year career with the Roy Hargrove Quintet, the Roy Hargrove Big Band, Roy Hargrove’s Crisol, and his soul/jazz group, the RH Factor, until his death in 2018 at age 49.
