The 1st annual Southern Classic R&B Weekend takes place Friday November 28th through Sunday November 30th, 2008 at The beautiful
4 star, 4 diamond Marriott Grande Dunes Hotel and Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where the temperature is traditionally around 78 degrees in late November. Friday's activities include a meet and greet with all performers scheduled for Saturday's awesome concert that features Keith Washington, Blue Magic, Eddie Holman, Force MD's, Kurtis Blow, Colonel Abrams, and The Intruders Review. In addition there will be a showcase featuring many well known artists from throughout the southern part of the United States . In another ballroom a comedy show will take place while a jazz combo will have smooth sounds in yet another ballroom. At midnight there will be a special performance by The Silver Stars, a great vocal group from Newark, NJ. If patrons become hungry, a full complimentary buffet will be served during the evening. And lastly, for those just wishing to relax, the indoor pool and other amenities will be available free of charge
Saturday starts with a complimentary all you can eat buffet breakfast. Breakfast will be followed by workshops on Financial Planning, Women Issues, Men Issues, and Health Concerns. Later in the afternoon line dance lessons will take place for those interested in the latest dance steps. Trips to shopping can also be arranged. Saturday at 4 PM is the official Semi Formal Dinner honoring local radio and media personalities from the south as well as a performer who has done so much to keep music alive.
The actual feature concert starts at 8:00 PM on Saturday evening and Keith Washington, Blue Magic, Eddie Holman, Force MD's, Kurtis Blow, Colonel Abrams, and The Intruders Review. Saturday ends with another dance party in yet another ballroom. Sunday ends with gospel performances.
