The Associated Press is reporting that R Kelly is in discussions to bring his musical soap opera, "Trapped In the Closet," to Broadway. Kelly announced the plans in a concert in New York earlier this week. He is also working on additional chapters to the serial, beginning November 23 of ifc.com.  According to the AP, Kelly told the audience, "I'm just having a lot of fun. I don't have a job, so I sit in the studio all day and think of stuff to do and this is just something stupid I've done that's been successful for me," he said. "I'm having a lot of fun with it."

For those unfamiliar with "Trapped In the Closet," it was a series of over 20 songs and videos released from 2005 through this year, telling a story of "sex, lies and deceit." The songs were both wildly absurd and wildly popular. The series featured memorable cast members like Gwendolyn, Big Man, Rosie the Nosy Neighbor and Rufus.

Just as notorious as R Kelly's series was the very funny parody aired by MAD TV, "Trapped in the Cupboard," which became an internet favorite.
