(April 6, 2023) Political turbulence, civil unrest, an unprecedented global pandemic and navigating a world 'othering' anything that disrupts the status quo: Everyone is dealing with a post-Covid struggle, but for people of color the obstacles can seem unrelenting. Part of the solution is finding a safe space to be seen and heard, and that's what Sydney Raneé had in mind when creating her aural oasis of a ballad, "For You."

Anyone who made it through 2020 doesn't have to be reminded of the seismic shift created by the death of George Floyd and the events that followed: it was in the midst of that social reckoning that the Los Angeles native found the lyrics, wanting to bring healing and unity to those who felt targeted and trampled upon for trying to exist:"Mama always told me, 'be proud of your shade, glisten in the sun Babe/if they hate then let them hate."
