Motown Records leads the 2018 Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame class of inductees

    (Detroit, MI – May 7, 2018) - Motown Records, Sam & Dave, the Drifters, the Chi-Lites and late Detroit jazz legend Marcus Belgrave are among the 2018 honorees for the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame, organizer LaMont Robinson announced today.

    Also to be inducted this year is Motown legend Brenda Holloway, The Elgins, Peaches & Herb, Little Anthony & the Imperials, the Chi-Lites, Ivy (Jo) Hunter, Ken Bell, Richard (Popcorn) Wylie and Clay McMurray.

    The 2018 Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Weekend induction ceremony will be held June 3rd at the Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Red-carpet will start at 5:00 pm induction ceremony will began @ 6:00 pm. Also today's announcement said the event will be broadcast nationally.

    Former Supreme Mary Wilson will host the event, which will include a musical tribute to Aretha Franklin. The Queen of Soul will also be honored with the hall of fame's Music Icon Award.

    For now, Robinson's project is a virtual mobile hall of fame. The goal is to build a world class state-of-the-arts 55,000 sq. ft. facility in Detroit within the next 12-24 months.

    The annual induction gala has been held in the Detroit area for several years, including last year's ceremony at Music Hall as part of the inaugural Detroit Music Weekend festival.
