Hi Gavin. Actually both were from the 2001-2002 era. "Nights Like This" was on the Manhattans' "Even NOw" album and "Turn out the Stars" was on Ali's "Right Here All Along" album. We verified these dates after you nominated them last time.

I just went through the list of the greatest songs of the 2000s and noticed something. How can D'Angelo's song, "Untitled (How Does It Feel), be on both the 90s (#50) and the 2000s (#13) lists? The song was from D'Angelo's album, "Voodoo", that was released on January 25, 2000.
Also, I see that a lot of rap, hip-hop and neo-soul got on the 90s and 2000s lists.
According to Britannica Encyclopedia, Soul Music is defined as "a style of U.S. popular music sung and performed primarily by African American musicians, having its roots in gospel music and rhythm and blues. The term was first used in the 1960s to describe music that combined rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz, and rock music and that was characterized by intensity of feeling and earthiness. In its earliest stages, soul music was found most commonly in the South, but many of the young singers who were to popularize it migrated to cities in the North. The founding of Motown in Detroit, Mich., and Stax-Volt in Memphis, Tenn., did much to encourage the style. Its most popular performers include James Brown, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, and Aretha Franklin."
I welcome your thoughts on this. Thanks.
