(August 20, 2019) Like many vocalists who aspire to an impactful and lucrative career, Chisara Agor grew up singing in the school choir and performing in musical theater. However, once she discovered that valuable tool called songwriting in college, Agor built a fan base via various open mics throughout Madrid, Spain.  Her appearances on the video series Sofar in front of intimate settings was a perfect vehicle to launch her recording career.  And Agor's enchanting blend of folk, soul, pop and jazz was always ready to tackle pressing social issues and messages of empowerment for those whose voice was lost in the social conscious shuffle.  We caught wind of this U.K. native in 2015 with the track, “Begin,” a riveting piece with just a voice and a ukulele.

Now on her second go-round with a First Listen, Agor’s latest single, “Anything,” augments more orchestral textures beyond her usual intimate arrangements. Thanks to producer Brent Shaw (Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine), Agor shifts between the serene verses accompanied by her trademark ukulele and the pulsating rhythmic choruses, keys and backing vocals. But the subject matter of “Anything” fits in Agor’s songwriting zone, challenging people to speak up about the issues that matter: “Do you believe that everything and anything can happen?”

With a keen sense of storytelling and a passionate voice representing independent artistry - soul music or otherwise – Chisara Agor offers a rejuvenating listen for the ears.
