(December 4, 2023) Debórah Bond has an affinity for 1980s music and judging from some of the artists she counts as influences it's easy to see why: Luther Vandross, Anita Baker and Whitney Houston just to name a few.

However, when Bond, a SoulTracks favorite who garnered critical acclaim for albums like Madam Palindrome and Compass, decided to remake a song from that era, she opted to cover "You Got It All, a great ballad by the family singing group, The Jets. If some find that surprising it's only because they might not remember how big a hit that song and The Jets were.

Bond clearly remembers, and she counts The Jets as one of her favorite groups from that era. "You Got It All" is a sweet ballad where Bond lets her current guy know that there is not comparison between him and the man who came before.

The lead singer on the orginal was 13-year old Elizabeth Wolgramm, who was the second youngest member of the group. Bond's vocal captures the youthful innocence of the original, while also adding some soulful flourishes.

The track was produced by Grammy nominated drummer Nate Smith. "I tried to make the track as transparent as possible so people could really hear the beauty of the melody and harmonies of the song," Smith said. "I also wanted to leave as much space for Debórah’s lead vocal and the lushness of her vocal arrangements as possible."
