First Listen: Dojo Cuts don't "Want To Wait" on great ballad

    (September 27, 2019) It’s been more than a decade since the six piece band Dojo Cuts burst on the scene in their native Australia. But the soulful funk outfit didn’t take long to establish themselves both in their home country and around the world. Inspired by 60s soul, but with elements of modern funk added, the group, fronted by singer Roxie Ray, won over a following via their authenticity, adding creativity to their reverential sound.

    Dojo Cuts is now back with a new single that has elements of Stax and even a bit of country in its soulful balladry. “I Don’t Want To Wait” opens with a 50s style piano and retro electric guitar, opening into a ballad that is half Aretha, half Patsy Cline. But it is fully enjoyable.
