(September 30, 2019) Folks probably first heard UK soul sensation Hannah Williams when her vocals on the song “Late Nights & Heartbreak” were sampled by Jay-Z on his song “4.44” in 2017. But that was just a sneak peek of what this vocal powerhouse can do, as demonstrated on her upcoming album with her band, the Affirmations, 50 Foot Woman which will be released October 18th on the Milan based imprint Record Kicks.
Hannah’s music is all about blending elements of soul and funk, and leading it all with her powerful vocals. She was raised in Buckinghamshire, England, on the music of Motown and Bill Withers, and uses that tutelage well. And the new disc, produced by Shawn Lee (Young Gun, Silver Fox), gives her just the right backdrop for her musical vision.

The disc leads off with “I Can’t Let This Slip Away,” a midtempo number that is as infectious as it is funky. And Hannah and the band sound just right, giving a blend of Detroit soul and Chicago blues in a great musical concoction.
