First Listen: Hil St. Soul celebrates old school with "Back In Tha Day"

    (April 16, 2024) Nostalgia will always have a powerful hold on music fans. We have all those old songs on the albums and CDs stacked in crates in our music rooms. We have many of those same songs and some newer classics on our computer hard drives or on streaming services located in the cloud.

    Playing those songs takes us back to memories of friends and family when life was simpler, at least on an individual level. Hilary Mwelwa, aka Hil St. Soul, reunites with Regi Myrix, a musical collaborator from her past, on a new song that invites listeners to enter the way back machine.

    “Back In Tha Day” is a lyrical, instrumental, and visual trip down memory lane. The cut uses the memories activated by those old songs to pay homage to the relationships that made youth special. The thumping bass lines that Hilary references in “Back In Tha Day” was the bottom of the songs that were the soundtrack for long summer days hanging out with friends or going to parties.
