(February 10, 2024) For over three decades, Everis Pellius has enjoyed a notable journey as a cool urban music stylist who stretches his artistry into several genres.  This very in-demand talent born in France has worked alongside jazz funksters The James Taylor Quartet (JTQ), opened for U.S. soul sensations The Jones Girls and Jocelyn Brown, and written songs for reggae band Aswad.  But one particular genre brought Pellius even more acclaim, with his contributions to several French-based EDM groups throughout the 2000’s.  Among his leading career highlights was permanently joining Karltone in 2007, who scored with the 2004 Dance Music Hall of Famer Tom Moulten’s mix of “Love Me Proper.”

Fast forward to 2023 where a particular Pellius track experiences new life through a remix.  On his U.K. new full-length, Songs in The Key of E, the slow jam from 2015, “Love and Affection,” features a retake by MC/DJ Marky B.  And now Karltone is invited to the “Love and Affection” (Everis Pellius Music) remix party - marking their debut for SoulTracks on the First Listen platform.

While Marky B’s perspective entails a hip-hop attitude, Karltone’s chilled funk rides on a ‘call and response’ chorus between the female background voices and Pellius’ silky soulful aftertaste.  And the keyboard/production duo of Fabien Reginaud and Ricard Larroze drop a terrific head-nodding atmosphere. The only oversight goes to one slight background noise clouding an otherwise enjoyable brief rap praising the romantic partner for their commitment.  Despite that blip on “Love and Affection,” Karltone’s remix skills fronted by Pellius still keeps the EDM and soul fans satisfied.  Check it out!
