(June 11, 2020) Songwriter and visual artist Lyia Meta  looks understated in her photos, but then you hear that voice. Deep, rich, and soulful, it is the kind of voice that can take a song and transform it.

This Malaysian born artist spent her childhood in a small town in the state of Malacca where her music and art were the mainstay of her everyday life. And she developed into an artist who has won several awards in her native country, particularly for her 2016 debut album, This is Lyia. She followed with other awards from around the world.

Lyia’s newest single is one that straddles the line between classic soul, blues and country music. Written by Mike Jones and Jerry Jake Howard, “Now I Know The Reason Why” tells the story of a woman who is witnessing the marriage of her love…to someone else. Her lament is portrayed through the bluesy, acoustic soundtrack. Meta’s vocals express it all beautifully, and you can feel both the agony of the situation and the realization of its finality.

Take a listen to “Now I Know The Reason Why” and welcome Lyia Meta to SoulTracks.
