“Bittersweet” resulted from years of on and off-stage symmetry between Marcus and Sandra, who both wrote and produced the single.  The song has a 70s-era groove with a lot of funk and spunk to it, featuring sassy Tower of Power-like horns and Marcus’ Jimi Hendrix-inspired guitar licks.  The tune comes from Marcus’ latest album entitled Blue Diamonds.  He calls the album “psychedelic soul”, saying that it has “a whole range of R&B, funk, [and] soulful stuff” that includes Latin vibes, an orchestra, and a Curtis Mayfield influence.
