(January 2, 2020) We've been fans of Shirley Jones for a four decades now, and that doesn't show any sign of slowing down. Soul fans know Shirley for her years as the lead singer of The Jones Girls, and her distinctive voice graced the many classics of that Philly trio, including "Nights Over Egypt," "I Just Love The Man," and so many more.

One of the biggest Jones Girls hits was "Who Can I Run To," a beautiful song that was a prototypical ballad by the sister group -- and later a top ten hit for Xscape. Now Shirley has taken the melody of that iconic hit and added lyrics that touch on the passion and complication of a relationship that both man and woman know are wrong. Shirley calls it lyrically a combination of “Me and Mrs Jones”, “As We Lay” and “Your Body’s Here With Me,” all with a familiar, adult soul musical backdrop.

"I Won't Tell If You Won't Tell" is a great return for one of our all-time favorites. It is the first taste of an album that Shirley is working on as a tribute to her deceased sisters Valorie and Brenda. If this song is any indication, the album will be quite an event, and will help folks get ready for The Jones Girls' story, coming later this year on TV One's Unsung.
