(December 4, 2023) Nashville-based trio The Shindellas have served up an impressive array of vocal stylings to the eclectic musical creations of producers Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly over the last few years. Ranging from 2019’s throwback pop-soul jam “Chills” to the new-school-meets-old-school bounce of “Juicy” from earlier this year, their material and delivery pays homage to girl groups of multiple eras while emitting a distinctly nuanced atmosphere all its own.

“Good as Gold,” a hard-to-resist gem from their new album, Shindo, emits compelling melodic vibes and production that is feel-good ‘80s at heart, embellished with a modernized, analog-esque computer-synth edge. Tamara, Stacy, and Kasi offer—both in their individual lines and sweet blends during the song’s chorus—an energetic helping of momentum to those in need of some positive encouragement. “Deep inside, I hope you know/In my eyes, you’re good as gold/Don’t let anyone knock you off your throne.” Surrounded by twinkling keys, rugged guitar riffs, and a magnetic beat, the message resonates loud and clear.
