(December 6, 2023) It's hard to believe that it's been 30 plus years since Frankie Beverly & Maze dropped a new album. Lovers of the classic hits like "Happy Feelin's" and "Joy and Pain" have been content to hear those songs during family gatherings this Christmas season, summertime cookouts, family reunions and at live events such as the "I Wanna Thank You" tour that is visiting selected cities through April.

That does not mean there is no new and original music from artists who have connections with the legendary band. The band TMF (The Music Forever) features six men who recorded and/or toured with Maze. TMF has released a new ballad titled "Making Love to the Music" that fans of Maze and classic R&B music in general are going to love.

That does not mean there is no new and original music from artists who have connections with the legendary band. The band TMF (The Music Forever) features six men who recorded and/or toured with Maze. TMF has released a new ballad titled "Making Love to the Music" that fans of Maze and classic R&B music in general are going to love.

The song tells the story of a man and woman recalling how a song can stir up memories of the time when their love was new, while inspiring them to rekindle that passion. The lead vocalist, Chris Walker, is the only TMF member who did not record or tour with Frankie Beverly & Maze, but like his bandmates he brings a wealth of experience. Walker possesses a soaring vocal instrument that he can take into an angelic falsetto range and then drop to a muscular tenor. The song sports a mid-tempo arrangement a smooth bass line and soulful organ touches that make it suitable for steppers, as well as those looking for additional music for the cookout set list.

Lowry, one of TMF's founding members, is the last remaining member of of Maze (other than Beverly). Lowry is the person who chose the name Maze after Marvin Gaye said the band needed to change the name from Raw Soul. Check out "Making Love to the Music" by TMF here.
