Sherree Brown - First Fruit

One glimpse at Sheree Brown’s impressive discography and there is a clear assumption that this young lady is simply no vocal lightweight.   Not only has Brown shared stages around the globe with the best of the best in the music world, but her production credits list such heavy hitters as Nancy Wilson, Tyrese and Tamia. Her music has also appeared in film and on television and her recently released album, First Fruit, credits Brown as the Executive Producer.

First Fruit plunges Brown headfirst into the musical realm of Christian soulfulness.   The album opens with her reading of Matthew 22:37-38.  This particular scripture sets the tone and lays the foundation for the vocal devotion to the Lord which is expressed throughout by Brown’s absolutely stunning intonation.  “Adore U” a song produced by Brown and her husband, drew me enthusiastically into this project.  After taking in the innocence and utter soothing melody of the song, coupled with Brown’s positively convicting lyrics and soaring vocals that speak solely of the love one has for the Lord's many blessings, I proclaimed it to be the standout song on First Fruit.

First Fruit is a fitting title for this collection of musical offerings.  Anyone with religious knowledge can attest to an offering of first fruit to the Lord as a gracious token of gratitude for His many blessings.  The title song finds Brown singing from the depths of her soul while seeking words to fully thank the Lord for providing the strength that has sustained her.  She clarifies her first fruit is the result of the blessings that flow through her from the Lord.

The power of Sheree Brown’s voice is simply refreshing.  It is evident that she has found her rightful niche and here’s to hoping that she will stay and continue to bless us all.  Highly recommended.
