(April 22, 2014) Deon Jackson, the singer who made the world smile in 1965 with the sunny soul song "Love Makes The World Go Round," has died at age 68.

The Ann Arbor, Michigan-born Jackson began singing professionally while still in high school. After a couple local hits, he scored with "Love Makes The World Go Round" at just age 19. He followed with a solid debut album, but never achieved the level of success that his brilliant performance on his smash single portended. Over the next three years Jackson continued to record with moderate success, last landing on the charts in 1968 with "Ooh Baby" before ending his recording career. He reportedly moved to the Chicago area where he became a teacher and also continued to perform years after his national fame faded.

While known to many as a one hit wonder, Deon Jackson provided quite a hit. One that still makes us grin broadly a half century later.
