(September 5, 2023) Jazz, rock, funk, and R&B. Drummer Sonny Emory has pretty much played it all. He’s also pretty much played for them all, from Bruce Hornsby to Phyllis Hyman to Eric Clapton (with whom Emory is currently touring), Joe Sample and the B-52’s. Most notably, Emory played drums for Earth, Wind & Fire, providing the foundation for the band’s return to the charts, starting with the band’s 1987 Touch The World Album.

It’s clear that Emory possesses a wide musical palate. Those diverse interests along with his talent makes Emory an in-demand drummer, both in the studio and on the stage. Now, Emory steps into the forefront as a leader with his band The7eventhTime. The group includes longtime friend, bassist Sam Sims, as well as Emory’s sons Nic Gibran (vocals and keys) and Ni Emory (master engineer).
