April 18, 2021 — Welcome back to Another Groove, our series dedicated to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but which has elements of those genres and may please your ears.  This week we feature the track “Just A Dream”  by Gerald Clayton.

Clayton is a 37-year old Grammy-nominated composer and jazz pianist who first rose to notice as a member of trumpeter Roy Hargrove’s quintet in the late 2000’s.  He has recently released his second  album for Blue Note, Bells on Sand, a collection of exquisitely delicate covers and original compositions.  Our featured track, a Clayton original, is a haunting ballad featuring the vocalist MARO that is pure grace and class. MARO’s feathery vocals, flavored with just a touch of smoke, glide effortlessly over Clayton’s beautiful, piano-anchored melody. Enjoy.
