World Premiere: Adesha "Crushes" great new dance tune

(May 19, 2021) Oakland, California singer Adesha was born about thirty years too late. The talented vocalist has a keen sense of melody and of the funk and dance music that dominated the airwaves in the 80s and early 90s.

That sense of history runs through her brand new single, a collaboration with French producer DJ AK. "Crush" has the feel of a Kashif hit (think "Love Come Down" for Evelyn Champagne King, or his own "I Just Got To Have You"), with a heavy bottom and electronics all around. And Adesha's powerful but restrained vocals work beautifully up front, giving the feel of a classic funk jam.

Adesha tells us, "DJ Ak and I connected via a Instagram. I heard him on the talk box and thought, 'I'd love to collab with him.' I had no idea he had worked with legendary westcoast hip hop icon Big Syke and in addition The Dogg Pound. As soon as he sent me the musical idea for Crush, I was propelled into the 80's, at a roller rink, back when I was crushing on boys. I wanted listeners, both older and young to have that same nostalgic experience."

We're proud to present the World Premiere of "Crush." Check it out below, and get ready to dance your way back into Adesha's world.
