First Listen: Boyz II Men cover a doo wop classic

The trio Boyz II Men have continued to record and please fans, two decades after their commercial peak. Included in those more recent releases have been a number of projects focused on covers of past pop and soul hits.

As the Boyz get ready to release their doo wop tribute album, Under the Streetlight, next month, they have issued a second single with a long history. “Why Do Fools Fall In Love” was a #1 smash for one of doo wop’s supergroups, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, and in the 80s was a big hit for Diana Ross. Now Boyz II Men team with former Teenagers singer Jimmy Merchant and issue a fairly faithful version of the doo wop classic.

Not much new or particularly notable with this take on an all-time favorite -- and it wouldn't have been our first choice of songs to cover in 2017 -- but the guys in Boyz II Men sound solid vocally. Take a listen below and tell us what you think.
