(June 13, 2019) When I woke up this morning, the last thing I expected to see hit my email was a brand new single from legendary funk act Cameo. But the band known for such memorable hits as “She’s Strange,” “Word Up,” “Candy,” and “Single Life,” is back with the first new single in over 19 years.

The song appears to be essentially a solo song by Blackmon under the Cameo moniker, but it certainly has the attitude and funk of a classic Cameo hit. The song is about a beautiful woman walking by and a man making an instant analysis of her and a gametime decision – to let her just continue to go by.

“El Passo” should please longtime Cameo fans and bring a smile to some new one. Check it out below and welcome back Larry Blackmon to SoulTracks!
