(July 17, 2019) There is a story about singer Candace Woodson that tells a lot about her tenacity. Twenty-eight days after her 2014 breast cancer surgery, Woodson was back to business as usual performing at the wedding of one of John Cougar Mellencamp’s daughters. And since that event, Woodson has kept on working hard, ascending to soul star status, especially in the UK, where her composition “Free” and her female empowerment ballad “The Answer Is No” became big hits.
In the process, Woodson signed with the always on top UK label Expansion Records to prepare her debut album, Desire, with producers Nils and Lew Laing. She tells us, “I’m so grateful for the opportunities I have had in the UK, and it’s exciting now to work with Nils and Lew in expanding my fan base in the United States. I have stopped and started the musical part of my life so many times, but this time I will not stop no matter how things play out. To me, the album is very authentic and it reflects everything I’ve gone through and the soul of someone who has loved music all her life“.
