(September 10, 2023) The 1970’s were a time of bell-bottoms, afros, platform shoes and the heyday of Soul Train.  And dance music was everywhere on the radio.  Georgia native Carletta Carletta is bringing back those good ol’ days with her new song “Soul Sister” from her LP “The Adventures of a Soul Sister.”  This LP is the brainchild of writer and producer John Carey of Careyall Productions.

While Carletta made a name for herself in her hometown by singing in choir, national competitions, and orchestra concerts, John Carey asked Carletta to be part of this ‘Soul Sister’ project after seeing her work as a videographer.  In March 2023, Carletta was recording video at a party during which she sang with the band for a moment.  Having enjoyed that, she decided to film the same band at a later date.  She sent that video over to John Carey’s wife, Itaska.  A few months later, the Carey/Carletta musical partnership began.  Within a six-week period, Carey compiled six songs for “The Adventures of a Soul Sister.”

Each track is described as “soul, funk, and full of pizzazz on a 70ish style.”  “Soul Sister” – which was the first song produced for the project – perfectly fits that description.  In the funky track, Carletta refers to other 70’s hits like “She’s a Bad Mama Jama” and “Brick House”, even doing a little Teena Marie-esque rap toward the end.  When you listen to the song, you’ll definitely feel like you’re in the 70’s - whether going down the Soul Train line or skating at your local rink.

So, take a trip down memory lane with Carletta Carletta and get to know this modern-day “Soul Sister.”
