(September 26, 2019) Georgia is in definitely in the house on the Cee Lo Green, Big Boi, Sleepy Brown collaboration, “Intention.” Now, that’s bringing a lot of creative force to the forefront, and sometimes the melding of that much talent can be somewhat underwhelming.

However, these three citizens of the “Dirty South” deliver the goods on that fusion of sleek 1980s funk and that kind of witty word play that was an OutKast signature when Big Boi was out there making hits with Andre 3000.

The track jumps right from the get go with those 1980s era hand claps, the seamless transition from Cee Lo’s clear-as-a-bell tenor to Big Bio’s tightly rapid fire rap and Brown’s vocals on the hook. Cee Lo returns and takes us to the church of longing for that unattainable woman on what has the feel of an improvised riff.

It should be no surprise that these three talented Georgians interchange so easily. Brown worked with Big Boi as a solo act and a member of OutKast as a part of the production team Organized Noize. Cee Lo Green created soul, funk and hip hop anthems both as a member of Gnarls Barkley and as a solo act, and Big Boi’s work with OutKast speaks for itself.

If “Intention” had come out a couple of months earlier, it would have been the jam coming from car speakers or being played at the cookout. Well, the three will just have to settle for making a cut that will make dance floors sizzle this winter. Check “Intention” out here.
