(July 15, 2020) In the early days of SoulTracks, we had a major thing going for R&B band Soulive, and that love has continued to this day. And Soulive co-founder Alan Evans had a side project that was also something special. His alter ego, Crushed Velvet & the Velveteers, released a concept album back in 2011, but then stayed on the sidelines for nearly a decade.
Evans brings the act out of retirement this year, with a series of singles, including the new soulful ballad, “As Far As We Know.” It has a strong early 70s vibe to it that should appeal to both The Memphis and Chicago soul crowds. We just love it.
