Easily one of the most exciting projects of 2014, the Atlanta-based soul outfit, The Dangerfeel Newbies’ Hariet was just a taste of things to come. Their latest single, “Love From The Sun (featuring Kathleen Bertrand),” from their forthcoming autumn EP release, Southern Suns/Sons, has a sliver of Rotary Connection deconstruction, The 5th Dimension harmonies, and an acid jazz dash of Incognito. According to Jamal Ahmad of The Dangerfeel Newbies, “Love From The Sun” kicks off a series of anticipated cuts paying homage to the power of the sun on their new EP.

If the glowing cut feels a little retro beneath that contemporary bassline, it’s because the group is joined by an enviable assortment of veteran talents that includes ‘80s-era Roy Ayers’ vocalist Kathleen Bertrand, Cameo’s former horn section, ATL’s own The PR Experience, and the legendary London DJ/producer/engineer Daz-I-Que behind the mixing and mastering boards.

With an open feel, shimmering production shine, a whiff of ecological social commentary, and bouquets of horntastic feel good, we bet “Love From The Sun” will have you most missing summer just as it slips from our grasp. Can we bottle this sun for winter?
