You probably don't know the name Daniel Crawford, but if you may have seen him before. The LA-based musician and producer has played and toured with a virtual who's who of R&B greats ranging from Jennifer Hudson to Lalah Hathaway to The Brothers Johnson and many more.
Daniel has released a brand new mixtape called Side Effects, and he leads it off with an ambitious take on Prince's 'Take Me With You' featuring talented U.K. soul singer Kyra Simone. According to Daniel, the collaborative effort began when he heard Kyra on the Sid Mercutio-produced 'Desire'. He immediately knew he wanted to work with her and asked to be introduced. Knowing that Kyra loved Prince, Sid suggested that would be a good place to start working together.
"We connected instantly regarding the music and you delivered exactly what the record needed without me having to go in depth as to what feeling needed to be captured." The connection definitely worked, and it has resulted in our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check out Daniel and Kyra on "Take Me With You" and tell us what you think.
