(September 20, 2022) Give a drummer/producer an opportunity to make their beats shine in the studio and they will be happy to oblige.  Eric Seats’ father was a major inspiration as a drummer himself, which was more than enough for the younger Seats in deciding his career vision. And his hard work delivered a very respectful career behind the scenes. Since 1997, his Key Beats, Inc. production house has been responsible for hits by R&B and Hip-Hop’s elite like Missy Elliott and Aaliyah, and as a studio musician/composer Seats has worked with Tamia, Patti LaBelle and gospel group The Soul Seekers.

Now with Seats in the solo artist chair, the 3-volume series named after his AKA Sidiooo spotlights the artist flexing his instrumental, production and arranging finesse, topped with a keen sense of finding the right vocal match.

When we last heard from Seats, his percussive delight, “I Don’t Care” from Project Sidiooo Vol. 3 (backed by a winning vocal performance from SoulTracks regular Carol Riddick) rocked the First Listen page.  And the follow-up “Turns Me On” (also from Vol. 3) promises to do the same on this current First Listen focus.  For this intriguing track, Seats’ homage to The Beatles melts into another funky backdrop, as vocalist SedMarsh nails the sexy storyline. Between the brass passages, popping grooves and a juicy jazz organ solo, Seats utilizes the hook from The Beatles’ ballad “Because.”  Though “Turns Me On” might not be a magnet for hit radio, Seats already wins artistic points in staying true to that vision.  Take a listen!
