(February 19, 2023) We’ve all heard that a person giving testimony in a court of law is asked to swear to tell “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.” A similar request can be made in another, less formal, setting - the court of love. Although not an action that requires swearing in, someone might sense a need to put their significant other on trial, so to speak, and ask him or her to tell “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

Although not an action that requires swearing in, someone might sense a need to put their significant other on trial, so to speak, and ask him or her to tell “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
That’s what Gail Patterson is asking on her debut single, aptly titled “Nothin’ But the Truth.” She wants her man to stop playing games and be honest with her about the status of their relationship. She’s all in, but is he? Since countless women over the years have had such concerns when faced with lies and deceit, it’s no wonder that Gail’s team describes “Nothin’ But the Truth” as an “international woman’s anthem”! This anthem has a modern R&B sound that makes it easy to sing along to, but Gail’s vocals suggest a level of maturity and life experience that prevent her from allowing the wool to be pulled over her eyes.
Gail, who is venturing into her music career after raising a family, has supplied backing vocals for the likes of Kenny Lattimore, Stacy Lattisaw, and Johnny Gill. She was influenced by jazz greats who only need a one-name introduction, i.e., Sarah (Vaughan); Ella (Fitzgerald); and Nancy (Wilson). She also enjoys Janet Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, and Beyonce. Now, she’s making a name for herself.
