(February 24, 2020) Even though we’re sitting here in Detroit, during 2020 SoulTracks has been inundated with new music from talented UK singers who are new to us. The newest is Geneivah, a South London performer who cites many of the jazz and gospel greats, from Ella Fitzgerald to Fred Hammond, as her influences.

Geneivah says that a big part of her musical purpose is to bring hope to her listeners, and that certainly comes through on her melodic new single, “Fear.” She tells us, “Fear is a subjective construct of the mind that has the ability to  stop us from doing what we need to do. However big or small that  fear, once we get over it, the pride we feel within ourselves is incomparable. I wrote this song at a time I was in real internal conflict. I saw who I was and knew what I could become but I was restricted by fear and the limitations I put on myself. I think I grew tired of using fear as an excuse.”
