(July 19, 2018) Rakiem Walker is a working musician. He takes his saxophone and he plays, and in that capacity he is much in demand. That should be not be a surprise for a musician who studied under legends such as Max Roach and Donald Byrd, and who worked with producer and hip-hop legend the RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Walker works as a musical director for artists such as Lisa Simone Kelly, daughter of soul, classical music and jazz legend Nina Simone. And when Walker is not doing all that, he’s leading his own bands, The Rakiem Walker Project, a funk band and Afrobeat band, The Earthman.

\The funky number, “The Good Life” comes from The Rakiem Walker Project. The track brim with thundering bass, fuzzy, distorted keys and is enlivened by Gloria Ry’ann’s vocals. The track is an upbeat number about not allowing people or circumstances to redirect you from the one thing that we all want. Check it out.
