(November 18, 2022) Zambian born, Hilary Mwelwa AKA Hil St. Soul, has solidified her place in the soul music world since her 1999 debut CD, Soul Organic, on Dome Records. Her musical versatility is proven on smooth dancefloor jams and juicy ballads with vocals that drip confidence, often on covers of songs from music icons. It is no wonder that her career has shown incredible longevity.

And Mwelwa continues seeking more artistic inspiration. After recording tracks in the past three years alongside producer Regi Myrix, singer/songwriter Noel Gourdin and others, Mwelwa returns with her first full-length project in a decade.

Mwelwa’s thank you gift to her longstanding fans, Back in Love (Shanachie Entertainment), features previous First Listen moments including the recent “A Feeling So Beautiful.”

This latest First Listen entitled “Love and Fire” never lacks the contagious joy Mwelwa asserts with her warm voice. Thanks to producer Myrix, “Love and Fire” fills the room with glorious background layers from Mwelwa and Ty Juan that accent a storyline expressing determination in keeping the relationship fires burning: “Whichever way the wind blows/ I’ll be by your side through the ups and downs….”
Myrix’s sophisticated old soul soundtrack with subtle modern touches of sparkling keys, brass bridges and lush guitar completes another precious urban adult contemporary masterpiece from Mwelwa. Enjoy.
