First Listen: Howard Johnson helps B & The Family to "Jam"

    (September 2, 2021) “Jam,” the new song by B & The Family and featuring Howard Johnson, is a collaboration that brings together people with an artistic and familial kinship. B & The Family is actually a family group that includes Brian Morgan, his wife Katie Goulet and their three children, Willa, 6, Genevieve, 14 and Taylor, 24. Johnson, who is best known for his 1982 funk hit “So Fine,” is connected with Morgan through a mutual association with the late songwriter, producer and artist Kashif. Kashif wrote “So Fine,” and Morgan was a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in Kashif’s camp.

    B & and The Family and Johnson have come together on “Jam,” a celebratory song that encourages people to have a little fun. The upbeat tune calls upon the 1980s funk that featured driving bass lines and sleek synth lines that were heard in Johnson’s music, as well as the work of Kashif. It’s definitely a fun cut that would be right at home at a family reunion, and Johnson and The Morgan family use this track to make the most of their reunion.
