(March 31, 2021) Corpus Christi, Texas native Latasha Lee cites such iconic soul performers as Sam Cooke and Etta James among her influences, and she innately captures the immediacy and honesty of their work.
As a young adult, she competed on the show X-Factor, and in 2013 released a series of music videos that gathered for her a loyal fan base for her classic-influenced brand of soul music.
She has since traveled the world, but is now back with new music that captures a 60s soul sound along with a compelling video that give the feel of small town Southern US.
“What Happened to Us” is both gritty and mighty, as Lee sings her heart out, lamenting to her auto repairing man about a love that’s gone stale. The song could have been a smash in 1965, and it sounds absolutely fresh in 2021.
