(December 31, 2019) British soul collective Light of the World brought a distinctive blend of funk and jazz influences to the world of R&B from 1979 to 1983 via hits such as the fast-driving “Swingin’,” the smooth and groovy “London Town,” and the majestic ballad, “I’m So Happy.” It’s hard to believe that two decades have passed since the band last reunited for 1999’s Inner Voices album. The guys are picking up right where they left off with a new album on their own label (coming in early 2020), and they’re giving SoulTracks fans an exclusive First Listen of the lead track!

On the highly danceable and melodically grabbing “Temperature’s Rising,” vocalist Gee Bello’s engaging lead performance is complemented by the clever guitar work of Nat Augustin and the groove of drummer Mel Gaynor. It’s a promising warm-up for the upcoming CD, as well as the band’s concert taking place at London’s Jazz Cafe on January 16 with producer Nigel Martinez and singer Josie James.
