(June 17, 2023) As self-professed Gladys Knight stans, how did we miss this? During the heart of COVID, Ms. Knight joined forces with the top tier country music group Old Dominion to record a tasty midtempo that is far more Nashville than Motown.
"Lonely Side of Town" covers the familiar theme of a man who is reaching back out to an old girlfriend whose memory he just can't shake, and trying to reopen that door a crack. The vocal interplay between Knight and OD lead vocalist Matthew Ramsey is strong, and the song goes down very easily -- it should be a pleasing result for both country and soul music fans.
We love seeing Gladys Knight continue to receive flowers from artists of all stripes, and "Lonely Side of Town" is a great treat from the country side of the musical world. Check it out below.
