Lost Gem: Pam Lewis sings a danceable song of praise

If you live in the Detroit area, you may know the name Pamela Lewis as one of the leaders in the non-profit world. Pam serves as director of the New Economy Initiative, supporting the growth of entrepreneurship in the Motor City, particularly for underserved populations.

But Pam is also a talented singer, and back in the early 2000s she recorded (as Pam Hurtt) a very nice album of Gospel tracks, produced by William Meadows and Dana Davis. There made some noise in the Detroit area, and we immediately dug the lead track, “Jehovah Jireh,” co-written by Lewis and Davis.

The song provides a danceable beat to a song of praise. With a groove similar to what Rodney Jerkins would have been creating around that time, the cut features Lewis’s rich alto voice and a timeless message of faith. “Heaven and earth are his glory more / What else can you ask for?”
