First Listen: Paris Cesvette and friends grab a "Hold" of us

(September 30, 2018) Paris Cesvette’s background distinguishes her from many DJs, in that she brings to that profession a background as a multi-instrumentalist. Cesvette was reading music at the age of five and eventually learned how to play the guitar, keyboard and saxophone. She joined played with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Queen’s Military Minden Big Band as a teen in her native Great Britain, and had already decided to embark on a career in the music business before finishing high school.

Eventually Cesvette moved into and make a name for herself in the world of working as a house music producer and DJ. Her latest release is “Hold Me,” featuring the vocals of jazz singer Darryl Walker (who also wrote the lyrics). Cesvette brings the entirety of her musical experience the bear on this cut. “Hold Me” fuses disco and funk and Walker’s soulful delivery brings the entire package together. And while the track does have that trademark pulsating house music beat, Cesvette adds other elements that come directly from her experience as a musician. The keys and a dash of improve from the trumpet adds a jazz element, while the smooth bass line recalls the days of 1980s era synth infused funk. Check it out.
