Over the years, these struggles of life have often been compared to bad weather, particularly rain. Phil Q - an up-and-coming R&B singer, songwriter and producer - uses this familiar comparison in his new song, aptly titled “Rain.” The multifaceted Filipino musician who’s inspired by the likes of Michael Jackson and H.E.R. says the lyrics represent “our battle against heartbreak.” The song is somber yet optimistic because, according to Phil, “our rainy days are strengths, not weaknesses.”

“Rain” represents Phil’s desire to create 90’s R&B-style ballads with a blend of the electronic, alternative, and hip-hop genres. Altogether, the song has a calming effect that’s beneficial for a person going through a hard time.
For Phil Q, “Rain” is extremely personal because it stems from his battles with depression, anxiety, and impostor syndrome…which sometimes rush in on him all at once. He started writing this song as a way to express his own feelings but soon realized that this record wasn’t just for him; it’s for anybody who’s struggling with something – and that’s everybody. Phil wants you to know that you can get through your darkest times and see the light at the end of the tunnel.
