(April 19,2018) When one hears what Australian producer/drummer Plutonic Lab conjures up in the studio lab, it is clear that you can’t anticipate the same old, same old.  Between his collection of singles, E.P’s and full-lengths since 2001, he has thrown down hard beats, created calm ambient canvases, painted images of Hong Kong and Japan and captured cinematic sequences that turn up the funk and drop fragmented distorted passages.  When not twisting studio knobs, the U.K. Mercury Award winner has toured with hip-hop group Hilltop Hoods.

For his latest musical blend, Plutonic recruits vocalist Natalie Slade, rapper Raiza Biza and musician 8H on “Blind Eyes,” released on the Australian progressive label Low Key Source.  The generous mix of heavy electronica fills, funk, hip-hop and jazz in Plutonic’s adventurous hands provides a neo-soulful frame of mind from Slade, capped by Biza’s cool yet biting rap delivery.  Though Plutonic is far from an up and comer to the industry, we at Soul Tracks are happy in introducing his musical wizardry in our latest First Listen.
