(August 1, 2018) Baltimore native and multi-instrumentalist Raymond Barton has worked with a number of stars over the years, including Toni Braxton, Maysa and others, and has released his own music from time to time. SoulTrackers really went for his single, “A Beautiful Forever,” last year, and we’ve been anxiously waiting for mre.
Raymond has now returned with a new single featuring talented vocalist Tyra Juliette. Tyra has worked with Nile Rodgers and Chic, The Roots and many other artists, and she brings a fresh voice to “Always Kissing,” a very nice midtempo that has a groove that we’re digging.
Raymond tells us, “My last E.P If Only For Love was my homage to one of my music heroes, Norman Connors. My new music is similar to the type of music I still listen to. I was influenced by Chic / Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards, as well as Kashif and Teena Marie. I always imagined if artists got together and ‘blended’ their soulful creative ideas, what would that sound like? As well, to me so much of soul music these days seems to forget about how a soul groove used to be in the ‘pocket.’ I wanted that vibe with some of my new music.
“The R&B / Soul vibe IS my music. ‘Always Kissing’ is heavy on the bass with driving horns put inside a good groove with soulful harmonies. ‘Always Kissing’ is another brand new throwback and it’s the first single from my upcoming E.P. I intend to stay true to my R&B / Soul roots with no cursing in my music EVER! I’m not going to sacrifice the music I love by adding whatever is ‘trendy’ at the moment.’
