With producer D. Trent Kelly slashing away on the six string, “Truth Or Dare” wears those rock leanings on the sleeve. Vocally, Son Of Pearl’s gritty baritone recalls the kind of soulful singers who shouted the good news from church choir stands or belted out the blues from smoky clubs. Those two genres merged and birthed soul music.
