(March 6, 2024) Before finding his niche in the music industry, Donovan ‘Groov’ Henderson honed his musicianship skills in church and school. As he was learning the behind-the-scenes details of running a recording business, the New York native opened up his own production company based in Atlanta by recording several albums with his jazz ensemble Groov Project and has never looked back.
To this day, Groov has produced independent artists like Audiosourcelive, whose 2017 Shine E.P. reached #1 on the U.K. Soul Chart. He also continues expanding upon his Groov Music, Inc. catalog including Raheem Kashon - featured on First Listen with the Black Lives Matter-inspired, “No Right Way” - and the R&B/neo-soul stylist SoulOmusic, introduced in 2023 with single “Last Dance” and a full-length, Love Language.

Now flipping the musical script from the poignant “No Right Way,” the nothing but a party jam, “Nothin’ on You” marks SoulOmusic’s debut on the First Listen platform. Opening with an acoustic guitar bed, this Groov-piloted production centers on a non-stop boasting session about one particular ‘can’t do wrong’ lady. The vocal tag team of SoulOmusic and R&B/hip-hop veteran RELL builds upon their praises: “We got that spark and I love it…To make you happy is all I want.” And an old-school dusted soundtrack drops super crunchy, contagious beats.
